Social Activities

Students will take away much more from the course than simply a feeling of confidence about the year ahead, they will also make some amazing friends who they will keep in touch with for many years to come. The social component of the course is ingrained into everything that we do and it is important to us that the students enjoy their time with us.

The campus is only 3 miles away from the quaint market town on Lancaster. Here you will experience life in a rural English village. You can spend time drinking tea, eating fish and chips or looking around the antique shops. Our trained UK staff are always keen to show students around the village and take them into the castle.

Evenings

Sports Academy

Our Sports Academy Programme is on offer every evening throughout the week, however, if students prefer there will be other events on offer they can choose from.

Chill Out Zone

Students have access to a well-equipped ‘chill out’ area that boasts a number of large screens and pool tables. In the evening students will be able to experience the buzz of the Olympics or watch a film from the comfort of a leather chair only minutes away from their room. There are also a number of coffee houses and restaurants that students are welcome to use.

Movie Night

Get the popcorn and gather round to watch one of the latest blockbuster movies with your course mates.

Cooking Challenge

Show off your culinary skills in our cooking challenge. With students from around the world attending our course develop your skills and cook your favourites for the rest of the group along with our staff members.

Fashion Show Challenge

Working in teams, can you develop and design the latest must have items out of the the materials we provide you with and then hit the catwalk.

Talent Show

Our course culminates in a talent show, planned, produced and carried out by our students

Weekends

Weekend Trip Package

On the weekends we offer an optional weekend trip package.

Visit Alton Towers, the UK’s number 1 theme park, for an action packed, adrenaline fuelled day out to ride some of the best rollercoasters in the UK. Afterwards, relax by the stunning lake with a bite to eat.

Take part in a stadium and museum tour of one of the biggest football clubs in the world, Manchester United. Soak up the atmosphere of Old Trafford.

Shop till you drop at one of Europe’s best shopping destinations. The fantastically elaborate and chic Trafford Centre. Spend the afternoon enjoying some retail therapy in stores like Selfridges or simply relax with a nice cup of coffee!

Explore the English Lake District, spend the day by the side of the beautiful and tranquil Lake Windermere, sample a traditional cup of English tea and a slice of cake!

Debating Seminar

For many students public speaking is a daunting and intimidating task, but fundamental to success during the IB (think of the TOK presentation). Giving you professional coaching, and a small interactive workshop which focuses on a variety of debating topics, this creates a stunning introduction to the academic and professional world of debating.

It does not matter what your level of confidence or skill, the summer SRP student will benefit from expert tuition in the art of debating, inclusive on this workshop is: how to project an argument, communication, critical thinking, persuasion, verbal reasoning and formulating ideas for debate.

These skills will all assist you when applying for university and facing the dreaded interview process!

Creative Writing

The SRP free creative writing course has been designed for students of either Pre or Mid courses to participate, if you have an interest in Ernest Hemingway or William Shakespeare and have a desire to explore your own creative potential, this is the course to do it. Whether it be short stories, mini-sagas, poetry, or creating an alternative ending to your favourite movie or play we at SRP are sure you will enjoy this course ran by an experienced IB teacher of English.

During the creative writing course, SRP students will work together to produce a newsletter which will be placed on the website for next years course. So you will become a published journalist/author!
